Rental homes in Hoofddorp

Hoofddorp is the main town of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, right next to Schiphol airport. The Haarlemmermeer polder was drained in the nineteenth century, so the town feels young and spacious, with wide roads, a lot of green space and many newer homes.

Many renters work at or around the airport, or for one of the international companies with offices in Hoofddorp. That brings a lot of expats and young professionals, alongside families who want more space than Amsterdam offers. Newer districts such as Floriande and Toolenburg consist largely of family homes and apartments. The Haarlemmermeerse Bos, a large park, is close by for walks and runs.

Hoofddorp station is on the line between Schiphol and Leiden, so Amsterdam, Leiden and The Hague are easy to reach by train. Haarlem is nearby too. Check where a home sits in relation to the runways, because aircraft noise varies a lot from one area to the next. If in doubt, visit at different times of day. You register with the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, not with Hoofddorp itself.
