Leafy and quiet, Bilthoven is a village in the municipality of De Bilt, just outside Utrecht. Streets are wide, many homes are detached, and woodland is never far away. It feels rural, yet the city is close.

Most renters here are families and couples looking for more space and calm than Utrecht can offer. People who work in Utrecht but prefer to come home to trees and gardens also end up here. Rental supply is limited, and much of it consists of family houses and larger properties rather than small flats.

Bilthoven has its own railway station, with trains to Utrecht Centraal and Amersfoort, and plenty of residents simply cycle into Utrecht. Because few homes come up at the same time, it helps to respond quickly when one does. It is also worth widening your search to the rest of De Bilt municipality, where the housing is often similar. When you move in, you register with the municipality of De Bilt, not with Utrecht.
